Brief History of Brennan

In July 2005, Nash Brennan became involved with Tess Buchanan, unaware that she was the alternate personality of Jessica Buchanan. When Tess became pregnant, there was question about the baby's paternity -- was the baby's father Nash? Or Jessica's boyfriend Antonio?

Brennan was born on May 1, 2006. A paternity test revealed without a doubt that Nash was the father. Tess and Jessica went through the integration process, which melded them back into one personality -- Jessica was dominant, with some Tess-like attributes.

The new integrated Jessica quickly married Antonio. However, after a few months of marriage, she cheated on him with Nash. Jessica and Antonio divorced and Jessica married Nash. She and Brennan took up residence in Nash's vineyard cottage, where they were finally able to live as a family.

However, their happiness was short-lived. During a fight with Natalie (Jessica's sister) and her boyfriend Jared Banks, Nash fell through a nearby skylight and later died from his injuries. Jessica, secretly pregnant with her and Nash's second child at the time, had a mental breakdown and Tess re-emerged to get revenge on Jared and Natalie. Her plan ultimately failed and she went into premature labor; unfortunately, the baby was stillborn. A third personality, Bess, emerged and switched the stillborn baby with Starr Manning's newborn baby, Hope, all without Jessica's knowledge. Jessica received treatment, reunited with Brennan and raised Hope (now named "Chloe") as her own. When the truth about the baby switch was discovered, Jessica re-integrated, returned "Chloe"/Hope to Starr and tried to help Brennan deal with the loss of her baby sister.

Jessica soon started a relationship with Brody Lovett, a fellow mental patient she met while receiving treatment at St. Anne's. Brody came to love Brennan as if she were his own daughter. After Jessica became pregnant again, Brody proposed marriage and he and Jessica made plans for Brody to legally adopt Brennan. However, shortly after the birth, the little boy (named Ryder) was revealed to be the product of a one-night-stand between Jessica and Robert Ford. This, along with the revelation that Brody had had a one-night-stand of his own with Natalie, caused Jessica to have another mental breakdown. So, currently, Brennan is off-screen while her mom slowly becomes crazier and crazier. (This history was last updated on May 17, 2011.)
