Jessica & Todd [2003]
[Todd runs into Jessica after her return from London]
Jessica: Hi, Uncle Todd.
Todd: Jessica? I thought you --
Jessica: I'm back.
Todd: I need to talk to Viki.
Jessica: She left for New York this morning. Ben was transferred to a hospital there.
Todd: Yeah, right, don't care about that.
[Jessica walks in on Todd holding a gun on Mitch]
Todd: Jessica, please leave.
Jessica: No! I won't lose any more of my family.
Todd: What are you talking about? This guy is dirt.
Jessica: I'm not talking about Mitch. I'm talking about you. If you do this, I'll lose you.
Todd: You don't need me.
Jessica: Of course I do.
Todd: No, I'll just -- I'll hurt you.
Jessica: No, you won't.
Todd: I'm just like Victor Lord. You know, he said that to me. Even before he gave me this, he said he was going to name me Victor Lord Jr.
Jessica: So what?
Todd: Jessica --
Jessica: You heard me. I said, so what? Mitch is my father. Do you hate me?
Todd: Of course I don't hate you.
Jessica: Because who my father is has nothing to do with who I am, just like who your father is has nothing to do with who you are.
Todd: I'm not like you, all right? I'm not. I'm not some good person who always does the right thing.
Jessica: Nobody always does the right --
Todd: Yeah, well, I hardly ever do the right thing.
Jessica: You saved my life. The car accident? You didn't even know me. You didn't know you were my uncle. But you did the right thing then, and I was grateful. I still am.
Jessica: Antonio --
Antonio: What? What is it? Is it Mitch Laurence?
Jessica: No, it's Todd. He's out of control.
Antonio: That's not exactly --
Jessica: No, this is different!
Antonio: Well, then, what? What happened?
Jessica: It's not what happened. It's what I think is going to happen. It's like -- it's like he's at the edge of a cliff and he's just waiting for somebody to push him off.
"Walker"/Todd: There's one thing Mitch can't tolerate.
Jessica: Betrayal.
"Walker"/Todd: Probably the more faith he had in you, the more betrayed he felt. At this point, I'm afraid he's lost all rational control. You need to be extremely careful.
Viki: If you remember anything else, will you please let us know?
"Walker"/Todd: I promise. I'll do anything I can to help find Jessica.
Jessica: Why do you care about me so much?
"Walker"/Todd: You're my niece.
Jessica: We barely know each other.
"Walker"/Todd: We're relatives. And I'm not going to stand around and watch you pay the price for being Mitch's daughter.
Jessica: Did you read the cover of "The Banner" this morning? Mitch died from a blow to the head. I killed him.
"Walker"/Todd: Relax. You did the world a favor.
[Jessica wants to confess to killing Mitch]
"Walker"/Todd: Confessing won't make you feel any less guilty, Jessica, believe me.
Jessica: I’m not like you.
"Walker"/Todd: Huh. Lucky you.
[Jessica is outraged that "Walker" destroyed evidence in Mitch's murder]
Jessica: You destroyed evidence?
"Walker"/Todd: Mm-hmm. Looks like all of it.
Jessica: But how -- you stole the evidence?
"Walker"/Todd: Yeah, it seemed a bit risky to burn the entire police station down, so I just brought the stuff to me.
["Walker" asks Jessica to lie to Antonio so that she'll get away with murdering Mitch]
"Walker"/Todd: We're almost there, Jess. We're almost home free. We just have to wrap up this -- this last little part.
Jessica: I’m not going to lie to Antonio.
"Walker"/Todd: Damn it, Jessica! I can't believe you don't understand that I’m doing this to save your neck! How come every time I try to solve a problem, you're standing in my way?
Jessica: Mitch was --
"Walker"/Todd: Yes, he was your father. He was also a killer, and you and I -- we stopped him, Jessica. He's gone, and everyone's life is better because of it.
Jessica: Sometimes you scare me just as much as he did.
"Walker"/Todd: Well, someday you'll think better of me.
Jessica: Well, I hope so. But right now I need a reason to change my opinion.
"Walker"/Todd: I’m not the person you think I am.
[VIki is outraged when after Jessica tells her about her and "Walker's" involvement in Mitch's death]
Viki: How could you ask her to live with something like that on her conscience just to protect you?
"Walker"/Todd: If Jessica told you everything, then you knew we were protecting each other.
"Walker"/Todd: Vik-- Mrs. Davidson, we're on the same side. Neither of us wants to see Jessica punished.
Viki: You are such a fraud. You don't give a damn about my daughter.
"Walker"/Todd: She's my niece, and if I had to do it again, I'd do everything exactly the same way. Nothing is more important to me than protecting Jessica.
Viki: Why?
[Jessica worries because Antonio has lost his job]
Jessica: I ruined his career.
"Walker"/Todd: He'll get another job.
Jessica: But not one that he loves, OK? Being a cop -- it's who he is.
"Walker"/Todd: Then he'll have to suck it up and find something else.
"Walker"/Todd: There's no way I’m letting you go to jail for killing Mitch, and if Bo Buchanan arrests you, he's got a serious family loyalty problem.
Jessica: You sound just like Mitch with this whole "loyalty" stuff.
"Walker"/Todd: I’m nothing like him.
Jessica: Listen, he's a part of both --
"Walker"/Todd: Not me.
Jessica: Walker, listen, you can’t deny it any more than I can. He's your brother, he's my father.
"Walker"/Todd: You're Viki's daughter, Jessica, to the core.
Jessica: Uh -- huh. You barely even know my mother.
"Walker"/Todd: I can just tell.
Jessica: What are you going to do if my uncle Bo questions you?
"Walker"/Todd: I’m going to give him the answers he wants.
Jessica: Yeah, well, not the right ones, I’m assuming.
"Walker"/Todd: Neither of us are going to prison, Jessica.
Jessica: Well, I know that Blair said that you're a part of her family, but you're still a part of my family, you know.
"Walker"/Todd: You mean Mitch.
Jessica: Yeah. Who else?
"Walker"/Todd: Who else?
Jessica: Yeah.
Jessica: Hi, everybody.
Blair: Well, hello, beautiful girl.
"Walker"/Todd: Hey, there. How's my favorite niece?
